Privacy Policy

Summary
LowCarb Recipes is a recipe browser and shopping-list builder with an optional Premium subscription. We built it to respect your privacy by default:
- We don't ask you to sign up — there are no accounts.
- We don't track you across the internet.
- We don't sell or share any information about you.
- Your shopping list lives on your device, not in our database.
- Payments for Premium are handled entirely by Google Play — we never see your card or billing details.
The free tier can be used entirely anonymously. If you subscribe to Premium, we store the minimum needed to recognise your subscription (described below) — still no name, no email, no payment details.
What we collect
1. On-device only (never leaves your device)
Your shopping list — which recipes you've added, what items you've ticked off, your notes. Stored in your browser's localStorage. We can't read it and it never reaches our servers.
2. When you actively send a shopping list via email
The email address you type in. Used once, by our email provider, to send your shopping list to that address. We do not store it on our database after the email is sent.
Email delivery uses Resend. Resend may retain delivery logs for diagnostic purposes per their own privacy policy.
3. If you subscribe to LowCarb Premium
When you buy the Premium subscription through Google Play, Google sends us a purchase token (an opaque code identifying the subscription — it contains no personal details) together with the subscription's status and expiry date. We store these so the app knows Premium is active, along with:
- a random app-generated identifier for your install (not a hardware ID, not an advertising ID — just a random code), so your subscription can be recognised on this device and restored after a reinstall;
- a pairing code you can optionally type on the web version to use your subscription in a browser;
- a log of subscription events (renewal, cancellation, refund) that Google notifies us about, kept for support and billing disputes.
Your name, email, card number and billing address are handled by Google Play and are never shared with us.
4. Server logs (standard web service operation)
Our hosting provider ( Render) records the IP address and User-Agent of incoming requests for security and abuse detection. Logs are typically retained for around 30 days. We do not use these logs to profile or track individual users.
That's it. We don't ask for your name, location, contacts, photos, or payment information — and we have no way to see the payment details you give Google.
What we don't collect
- Real names or accounts (no accounts exist)
- Precise location
- Contacts, calendar, or photos
- Payment information (card numbers and billing details go to Google Play only — never to us)
- Hardware device IDs or advertising identifiers
- Cross-site tracking identifiers
- Analytics or third-party tracking cookies
Subscriptions, cancellation and refunds
LowCarb Premium is a monthly subscription billed through Google Play. To cancel, open the Play Store app → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions and cancel there — you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy.
If you cancel and later want your subscription data removed from our database (the purchase token, device identifier, pairing code and event log described above), email us and we'll delete it within 30 days.
Third-party services we use
Each service has its own privacy policy. We do not integrate Google Analytics, ad networks, or cross-site tracking.

Your rights
Depending on where you live:
- EU / UK (GDPR): right to access, correct, delete, and port your data.
- South Africa (POPIA): similar rights, including access, correction, and deletion.
- California (CCPA): right to know what's collected and request deletion.
Because we hold almost no personal data about you, exercising these rights is usually simple. Email us at the address below and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
LowCarb Recipes is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and post a brief notice. Continued use of the app after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
